SUNY at Geneseo Monroe Residence Hall Commissioning

Monroe Residence Hall on the SUNY Geneseo campus underwent a major reconstruction for new up-to-date residential living. The $14.4 million, 50,000 sf project entailed a complete stripping of the building in the demolition phase down to the building shell. Exterior improvements included new energy efficient windows and a building addition for the installation of a centrally located elevator. Interior improvements included new mechanical, lighting, fire alarm and sprinkler systems; residential space reconfiguration and upgrades; and compliance to ADA standards. “Green” project

features included 60 geothermal wells, rainwater harvesting, lighting control and a green screen. The project achieved LEED Gold certification.

C.J. Brown Energy provided design through warranty phase commissioning services to meet the requirements of the Dormitory Authority- State of New York, USGBC LEED Rating System, and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority New Construction Program incentives.
