West Seneca CSD Detailed Energy Audit

The West Seneca Central School district has 13 buildings totaling over 1.2 million sf. As subconsultant to an ESCO, C.J. Brown Energy performed a preliminary and detailed energy audit in support of an energy performance contract. In total, more than 30 different facility improvement measures will be implemented, along with various O&M improvements.

In 2000 and 2001, West Seneca CSD, in partnership with NYSERDA and an ESCO, undertook a district-wide energy conservation project. C.J. Brown Energy completed a preliminary and detailed energy audit in support of the energy performance contract. Although each

building had different upgrades implemented, the general energy efficient measures identified by C.J. Brown Energy and recommended and installed by the ESCO included: lighting retrofits; energy management systems; high efficiency motors; boiler replacement; and installation of thermal glazing on windows. We also developed the Web-Enabled Advanced Metering plan used to gather data on electric use. According to NYSERDA, implementation of the measures resulted in $135,332 in annual electric savings and $94,959 in annual natural gas savings. Total project cost was $4,109,199 with NYSERDA providing $198,513 in incentives.
