Western Massachusetts Hospital Energy and Water Audit

C.J. Brown Energy was selected by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance (DCAMM) to complete an ASHRAE Level 2 energy and water audit of Western Mass Hospital. The project encompassed six buildings totaling over 140.000 sf, the largest being the 95,536 sf main hospital. We completed the project under our Facility Maintenance, Operation & Energy Advisory Services contract.

The project included an existing condition assessment, utility analysis, preliminary list of ECMs, and a renewable energy and innovative technology assessment. The total estimated energy savings from the potential ECMs was over $100,000 per year. Two measures at the hospital had large energy savings and short payback periods; this would allow smaller measures with long payback periods to be included in an energy project.

Current maintenance and operations procedures were also evaluated. Suggestions were provided for a predictive maintenance program and for a procedure to improve the monitoring of the web-based interval meter data in each building.
