Burchfield Penney Art Center Commissioning

Housing a museum dedicated to the art of Western New York, this $30 million, 83,780 gsf facility includes a 147-foot long double height main gallery, a variety of other flexible gallery spaces, a state-of-the-art auditorium, classrooms, museum store, café, public reception room, administration, boardroom, roof terrace and support functions. The museum is located on the SUNY College at Buffalo Campus.

C.J. Brown Energy provided design through warranty phase commissioning services to meet the requirements of the State University Construction Fund, USGBC LEED Rating System, and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority New Construction Program incentives.

Burchfield Penney is the first art museum in New York State to be LEED certified and among the first of several art museums in the nation to achieve certification. Earning LEED Silver certification, the facility meets rigorous standards in the areas of site sustainability, water use and efficiency, reduced use of energy and atmospheric impact, use of materials and resources, improved indoor air quality and innovation in design.
