National Heritage Academies Retrocommissioning

New York City Local Law 87 (LL87) mandates that buildings over 50,000 gross square feet undergo periodic energy audit and retrocommissioning measures, as part of the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan (GGBP). The intent of this law is to inform building owners of their energy consumption through energy audits, which are surveys and analyses of energy use, and retro-commissioning, the process of ensuring correct equipment installation and performance.

National Heritage Academies (NHA) partners with local school boards to build and manage no-cost public charter schools. C.J. Brown Energy personnel worked with NHA as a subconsultant to the architect between 2004 and 2010 for the design and construction of charter schools in the Buffalo and Brooklyn, NY areas. We were contracted by NHA in 2017 to perform an energy audit and retrocommissioning audit of the 45,000 sf Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School and the 58,700 sf Brooklyn Scholars Charter School in compliance with LL87. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, air balance and air sealing measures were identified at both schools.

Services were provided utilizing and in accordance with the required Energy Audit Reporting Tool and Retrocommissioning Reporting Tool.
