New Era Field Operations Building Commissioning

This new $2.5 million, 12,500 sf facility at the “home of the Buffalo Bills” includes office space for stadium operations administrative staff, vehicle and building maintenance shop spaces, storage space for maintenance supplies and game-day equipment used on the field and within the stadium. The project was part of the $130 million in renovations and improvements completed in 2014 at the former Ralph Wilson Stadium.

C.J. Brown Energy provided commissioning services from design through warranty phases to meet the requirements of the USGBC LEED Rating System. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Our team also provided LEED energy modeling

and design services for the project. The modeling process started with the review of the designs to comply with ASHRAE 90.1-2007 and local codes for HVAC, lighting, building envelope and ventilation. The HVAC designs consisted of a VAV RTU unit serving the offices spaces with energy recovery. All other spaces in the building are heated by condensing unit heaters (80% efficient gas fired unit heaters were initially designed). The ventilation to the spaces is provided by an energy recovery unit. The building envelope was optimized by performing a number of energy modeling iterations for the exterior wall insulation.
